PJCC Art Gallery invites you to learn, discover and create with Siona during her tenure as their Artist-in-Residence, September 6–11.
Siona Benjamin is a painter and two-time Fulbright Fellow. Originally from Bombay, Ms. Benjamin now lives in the US. Her work reflects her background of being brought up Jewish in a predominantly Hindu and Muslim India.

Siona's Art Explained - The Story Behind the Blue
Siona grew up in a small Jewish community in predominantly Hindu and Muslim India, and now lives in the US. Her paintings are inspired by the imageries of her past from multicultural India, and of her present from an increasingly diverse America.
Throughout her art Siona uses a consistent shade of blue. To Siona, the blue represents being different, and personally, a jewish woman of color. Siona Launches Exodus Series
Siona's latest painting - "Exodus: I See Myself in You" - is a breathtaking 7-panel piece spanning 10 ft wide and 3.5 ft high, created with gouache, acrylic and 22K gold leaf. Refugees forced to leave their homelands are guided by angels while the devil continues to wreak havoc. Who will prevail? This piece is on exhibit through November 13 at Opalka Gallery, Albany NY, returning to ACA Galleries in NYC thereafter. More pieces on the subject, including drawings, will be released soon.
